SUMMARY OF POSITION: •The medical science liaison is a clinician trained healthcare professional. •Responsible for tactically implementing Medical Affairs strategies. •Collaborate with key clinician researchers, thought leader speakers, and corporate stakeholder groups. •Provide insights and recommendations pertaining to medical thought leaders and clinical research trends/paradigms. •Understand regional healthcare and business climate for appropriate medical tactics in order to deliver value. •Professionally, effectively represent Medical Affairs organization when providing value to medical thought leaders and key stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Complies with all OIG, ACCME, FDA and PhRMA guidelines/policies. •Ensures that all activities and interactions comply with Covidien’s business policy and Medical Affairs operating practices. •Establishes and maintains peer-to-peer relationships with Key Opinion Leaders. •Supports Medical Affairs platform while carrying out the tactical execution of clinical education programs, medical information initiatives and investigator sponsored research proposals. •Demonstrates clinical expertise and has a working knowledge of current medical treatments in Rheumatology and Pain therapeutic areas. •Serves as a clinical resource for Covidien’s field sales organization, accurately answering any customer requested medical questions. •Identifies new and strategic medical opportunities and customers that leads to impactful results in the region. •Supports and ensures appropriate execution of clinical meetings (e.g. advisory boards). •Works collaboratively across Specialty Pharmaceuticals & Imaging Solutions Sectors and shares best practices. •Collaborates with Medical Affairs counterparts when identifying and communicating education/research needs. •Acts as the go-between on investigator initiated trial proposals.

Requirements |
Education: •Pharm.D., MD required
Experience: •3-5 Years MSL or Pharma Industry-related experience. •Clinical research insight, product development, and business and market knowledge.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: •Knowledge and experience in Rheumatology and Pain therapeutic areas. •Previous pharmaceutical industry experience. •Understanding of clinical practice and decision making regards to patient care. •Ability to identify the unmet medical, educational, and research needs within the regional medical community. •Interpretation of key scientific data and ability to translate this information to meet educational and research needs. •Demonstrated ability to address educational and research needs through delivery of scientific/ evidenced-based medical data. •Understanding of healthcare systems affecting patient care. •Understand the design and execution of research studies. •Exemplary communication of presentation skills. •Ability to think strategically.
