This position plays a major role in the development and maintenance of SAS programs used to measure various quality metrics in support of new contracting strategies and provide timely actionable data/reports on a production basis. Candidate must be a self starter, willing to initiate projects and anticipate customer needs. Position requires candidate to work effectively as a team player and manage assignments within tight deadlines.

Major Responsibilities

    * Development of SAS programs which measure quality performance metrics used in the measurement & evaluation of providers engaged in incentive programs & other clinical quality based contracts.
    * Monthly production and maintenance of SAS reporting applications.
    * Ad-hoc programming support for departmental projects and corporate initiatives in concert with other members of Performance Measurement Evaluation, and other key areas within the organization.



Qualifications

    * Proficiency in writing maintainable, supportable, well-documented SAS code
    * Experience with SAS in developing standard reporting packages
    * Provide ad-hoc reporting using SAS and Access in support of contracting initiatives
    * Strong focus on data manipulation including file merges and data step programming
    * Ability to extract, cleanse and integrate medical and pharmacy claims and membership data from various platforms and sources
    * Creative problem solving skills
    * Strong verbal and communication skills
    * Excellent customer focus and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
    * Strong quality control ethic, ability to assess accuracy of output at report level as well as investigate potential issues at a granular level
    * Ability to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities

Experience and Education:

    * Masters or commensurate experience
    * 4+ years SAS programming experience required
    * Development and use of PC applications for data analysis (specifically spreadsheet and database systems (MS Excel, MS Access)
    * Prior experience working with medical and pharmacy claims data at either a health plan, provider group or health data vendor
