Regular/Temporary: Temporary

Academic - Adult Education
Teacher ESOL

 Teach one 3-hour class, Tuesdays, and Thursday evenings, for non-native English speaking adults. ESOL levels 1 to 4 and a transitions class.
 Contribute to ongoing curriculum development at appropriate level.
 Survey students' expectation/goals at the beginning of each new semester and develop appropriate curriculum.
 Have the knowledge to utilize technology in the classroom.
 Administer regular, ongoing in-class assessments, including (but not limited to) a mid-term exam and final exam.
 Make teacher's programs expectations clear to students at the beginning of each new semester.
 Communicate classroom/student issues to Assistant Director of Education in a timely manner.
 Help students understand the department's educational pathway as well other services available to them at the Department of Adult Education and Community Services.
   
Administration

 Administer and score placement tests before each new semester.
 Submit orders for textbooks at the beginning of each new semester.
 Keep accurate nightly student attendance records.
 Maintain up-to-date student information (dropout, completion, etc.).
 Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
 Prepare certificates at the end of each semester for all students completing each class.
 Model professional behaviors that include punctuality, organization, high expectations, respect and the ability to maintain a safe and culturally sensitive learning environment.

Qualifications

 Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree in education, TESOL, applied linguistics or related field strongly preferred.  Recent college graduates with M.A. or B.A. are encouraged to apply.
 Have a valid MA teaching license in the appropriate field is required.
 At least two years of experience teaching immigrant adult learners required.
 Knowledge of adult educational theory.
 Familiarity with the MA Curriculum Frameworks.
 Experience working with a diverse group of individuals (students, teachers and staff).
