Located in Merrimack, New Hampshire, DRS Codem Systems, Inc., is an industry leader in the design, development and production of products and systems for Communications Intelligence (COMINT), Spectrum Management, Satellite Communications and Tactical Military Networks. We operate on a 9/80 work schedule, all employees work 80 hrs in 9 days and have every other Friday off. Relocation Benefits will not apply to this position.
Position Summary
Incorporate red-lines to existing documents and models in Solid Works, Pro-E and Autocad, initiate checking function for drawings and BOMs, verifying compliance with standard drafting policies, completeness and accuracy and consistency.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Engineering Mgr. Design Engineer or Senior Designer, the designer performs tasks including (but not limited to) generating complete mechanical designs of machine systems and sub-system components using CAD system, creating and maintaining drawings, entering bills of materials and maintaining the MRP engineering entries.
Principal Responsibilities and Goals:
· Efficiently prepare original layout, assembly, schematic, detail and proposal drawings using CAD techniques.
· Produce drawings to current department standards within schedule and cost (hours) goals.
· Check the work of supporting detailing efforts to ensure accuracy to applicable criteria.
· Revise engineering documents to the current department standards.
· Enter and maintain part numbers, descriptions, and bills of materials in the MRP system.
· Prepare and submit document packages to the engineering administrator for record.
· Communicate effectively with engineering, other departments, and suppliers.
· Demonstrate an understanding of the current Company general engineering standards and procedures
Basic Qualifications
Must be familiar with MIL-Specs, formal military configuration and document control management and processes. Proficient in PRO-Engineer, Solid Works and AutoCad for completion and release of formal drawings and documents. Able to review various data-bases for drawings, compare technical aspects of drawings and with minimal guidance incorporate redlines into final configuration. Detail oriented person with ability to check final production drawings and assemblies for accuracy and compliance with drawing standards.
Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge
Military technical documentation background or Technical school training in CAD and drafting practice 10+years experience largely in a military design environment.
