Vice President, Battery Development

Boston-Power, Inc., is currently seeking a seasoned executive to help lead our efforts in developing leading-edge battery management systems for a diverse portable power market.   Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, this is a key role in research, development, operations, and sales efforts of our dynamic pre-IPO company.  You will partner closely with talented, motivated people across all functions and locations to ensure we design product solutions that meet the unique needs of each customer.  This is an excellent opportunity to utilize your deep experience, visionary leadership, and focused energy to drive our battery development efforts to meet the requirements of our rapidly growing company.

Responsibilities:

• Lead project management and execution of Li-Ion Battery pack development for large and small format application and technologies;


• Provide technical guidance and support in developing manufacturing strategies and solutions;


• Lead field application support with customers to design product solutions that meet their specifications and support sales goals and activities;


• Coordinate engineering activities with manufacturing, quality, sales and marketing, and other groups within the company, consistent with the group's strategic goals;


• Manage technical teams to support continued company growth and to allocate resources as needed to achieve business goals.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field required;


• Experience in development of multiple cell battery solutions, including battery pack development, charging electronic systems, and device integration;


• Demonstrated experience in process qualifications and quality systems;


• Experience in manufacturing processes for battery module assembly, Li-Ion preferred;


• Experience in building effective teams;


• Ability to manage innovation, facilitate effective brainstorming, and bring the creative ideas of others to market;


• Strategic agility to see ahead clearly and create breakthrough strategies and plans;


• Ability to manage multiple functions independently and take a leadership role in the office in support of executives;


• Strong organization skills, process orientation and attention to detail;


• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
