The successful candidate will provide support to the global investment operations and investment compliance groups. In addition, the candidate will:
- Partner with clients to analyze and structure investment opportunities
- Direct outside counsel in connection with investment opportunities
- Provide regulatory and compliance advice
- Keep abreast of compliance and regulatory requirements
- Provide general corporate advice to support Investment Division operation and offer suggestions or advice which may influence business policy or priorities.
- Prepare filings and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Draft and analyze documents having legal implications.
- Prepare documentation for litigated cases.
- Participate on projects as legal counsel, making decisions on moderately complex legal matters and seeking advice of senior counsel on more complex matters.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate & admittance to the local Bar Association
- 4+ years of experience as a lawyer in the financial services/investment management industry
- Demonstrated proficiency in preparing written opinions and memoranda for clients
- Ability to make formal presentations to clients
- Demonstrated proficiency in identifying and analyzing legal problems
- Strong interpretation skills of statutory and case law
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Experience with Investment Adviser's Act of 1940 and Investment Company Act of 1940 preferred
- Experience reviewing Prospectuses in order to analyze and advise business unit of the risks and liabilities
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
