If you want to sit in your office all day and tell other people what to do, this job is not for you. We need a hand’s on strategist who also loves to do the heavy lifting. This position will have two safety engineers and a wastewater operator working directly for them and will be a key contributor in opening our new facility at our 40 acre campus in Wilmington .
In this exciting, challenging and rewarding position the right person will need to be an expert in environmental and very strong in health and safety. This position will be responsible for the following:
- Manage and lead all Environmental, Health and Safety responsibilities in KMS plants worldwide, including Wilmington, MA, San Diego, CA, and
Aachen.
- Take prime and active responsibility for all environmental compliance. In the role of environmental, this is a hands-on responsibility with little or no further support from within the KMS EHS department.
- Maintain and be fully responsible for KMS compliance with all local, state, country and other authorities in regards to environmental, health and safety.
- Continue the development and implementation of internal EH&S standards of performance to provide guidance to all KMS Departments.
- Work with outside auditors to evaluate KMS performance in the areas of Environmental, Health and Safety.
- Continue the development and implementation of effective strategies and programs to address and reduce KMS Workers’ Compensation costs.
- Continue the development and implementation of effective strategies and programs to address and reduce KMS Hazardous Waste costs and other associated environmental expenses.
- Continue to work with all levels of the KMS organization to effectively ensure the three plants are properly monitored for EH&S performance.
- Further develop and lead the safety culture at KMS
- Ensure all projects, experiments, new machines, new jobs and new production operations/layouts are properly reviewed and modified where needed to ensure proper EH&S and Facilities impact.
- Coordinate and develop written procedures (Standards for Performance) for EHS as mandated by US-OSHA, Cal/OSHA, DOT, EPA, MA-DEP, CA-EPA, German safety standards and German environmental standards.
- Ensure all facility permits are kept current and up-to-date. Also ensure that for any applicable operation that requires a permit, obtain the needed permit in advance and in compliance with State and Federal and Country regulations.
- Administer training to employees as required for all EHS procedures and policies

To determine if you have the right stuff to take on this high profile position you need to possess the following experience and skills:
- 5 or more years of EHS leadership and management experience in a multi-facility manufacturing facility (international experience a plus but not required)
- Proven ability to facilitate and lead
- Strong Environmental knowledge including permitting and
MA State requirements
- Experience with chemical processes
- Experience with industrial machinery
- Hands on environmental authority experience, executing permitting and compliance
- Working knowledge of life safety, fire protection and prevention, hazard communication and industrial hygiene.
- Ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to effectively develop and deliver training material.
- Strong environmental capabilities, air and water discharges, hazardous waste, etc.
- Certification in safety or industrial hygiene practice (CIH, CSP, ASP or CAIH) We are an equal opportunity employer. M/F/D/V
