Description



Provide strategic direction and global management of Global Delivery Logistics and Customs processes for Converse Worldwide.  Critical to the success of all wholesale operations and the CTC (Converse Trading Company in Singapore), the Global Delivery Logistic team provides expertise in delivery and customs processes and procedures that ensure compliance, speed and the most cost effective Supply Chain for Converse.

 

Drive and develop vision, set strategic direction, and lead/influence the company regarding Converse's Global Logistics and Inbound Supply Chain, Export Compliance and Customs Compliance policies. 

 

Provide strategic direction and global management of transportation processes to accomplish core business objectives and new initiatives.  Development of processes and procedures as required to support systems driven automation throughout the Supply Chain.

 

Insure fiscal responsibility and operational excellence through the building and training of high performing teams.  Instill a culture that supports cross-functional bench strength and knowledge to insure meeting internal and external customer objectives.

 


Supply Chain Integration

 

Provide planning and direction to Corporate Trade Delivery Logistics team in the execution of their responsibility to the regional Business Units to provide logistics direction and support (LSP's, process, procedures) in service of their supply chain needs from origin ports to Converse and/or customer destinations.


 

Lead the CTC (Converse Trading Company) team in Singapore by providing defined processes, procedures and tools for the logistics management and flow of approximately 80 million pair of footwear.
 

Drive the Converse Inbound Logistics and Customs Compliance functions from an Inbound Transportation and Delivery Logistics perspective to support an integrated supply chain management process that supports monthly, quarterly and fiscal year objectives.

 

Ability to develop strategies that are relevant to Converse utilizing established logistics services (i.e. consolidation, cross-dock etc) and innovative solutions, that reduce costs, improve speed and/or provide information access

 

Deeply understand the dynamics of the entire Supply chain view and possess the ability to translate process into systems applications and implement those across supply chain functions.

 

Drive and develop a more a more strategic view of our inventory in the pipeline utilizing Logistics methods (consolidation, deconsolidation, flow planning, container load planning, delay in transit, etc.) and other tools that allow supply and demand to be better matched throughout the pipeline resulting in better service and lower costs.


 

Strategic Projects / Planning

 

Provide long-term strategic planning for global transportation and customs operations

 

Lead and support all strategic initiatives as communicated by Converse Executive Management's business plan to manage U.S., Canada and EMEA Logistics' and Supply Chain Operations' monthly, quarterly and fiscal year objectives.

 

Critical to the development and execution of the CTC (Converse Trading Company in Singapore), define, develop and implement logistics and customs solutions that meet the regulator requirements of multiple government customs agencies while minimizing the duty impact to our products.

 

Provide strategic guidance on logistics and customs compliance on the transitions of China, the UK and France along with a rollout methodology for future licensee transitions.

 

Ability to manage Logistics' related strategic projects, drive strategies to execution and align cross functionally to build consensus around all aspects of the strategy to assure operational success.

 

Develop and monitor action plans that ensure timely execution of deliverables across functions.

 

Transportation and Delivery Results

 

Responsible for providing key direction on the Inbound Transportation team for Converse products from factory to final destination within the US and Canada. Domestic and export related transportation management and support is also included in this responsibility.

 

Set U.S., Canada, China and EMEA Transportation and vendor performance policies.  Ensure we negotiate the most competitive rates and service in our transportation contracts.  Evaluate our partners and allocate trade-lane volumes accordingly.

 

Coordinate and oversee, process and procedural development and implementation, including operational reporting, category business unit supporting activities, product group business unit support activities and enhancement to hit delivery goals/targets. 

 

Support the development and execution of Vendor Compliance Programs and related performance measurement metrics of factory partners and third party logistics partners to measure and validate operational and delivery objectives.

 

Customs Compliance/Trade Results

 

Set U.S. Region Trade/Customs operations and compliance policies and administration amongst USA Operations and Product Groups according to both government regulations and company policy.

 

Provide direction in driving operational best practices to minimize the risk of monetary penalties, seizures, and/or delivery delays to Converse customers, as well as meeting DOHS & USCBP guidelines in support of Regulatory and Port Security initiatives (C-TPAT, ACE, ISF, etc.).

 

Develop organizational strength to ensure that Corporate Business objectives are not at risk in clearing product thru customs

 

Utilize and communicate trade information updates and rulings to senior management to assure operational alignment with strategic initiatives.

 


Team Management & Leadership

 

Promote functional excellence in the management of global transportation and custom operations.  Create a learning environment within the global functional group to ensure performance competency and succession planning.

 

Direct the Inbound Logistics and Customs Compliance teams to operate in a cohesive, streamlined operational method, to assure an uninterrupted supply chain and delivery result.

 

Build an organization to support continued corporate growth objectives, while maintaining operational excellence and compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as external regulatory and compliance guidelines.

 

Mentor and coach team members to create a winning, highly motivated Inbound Logistics and Customs Compliance team by providing broad team goals and monitor team effectiveness.

 

Drive team depth, strength, and succession planning via selection, motivation, evaluation and organizational development.  Specific activities include hiring, termination, coaching, performance reviews, salary administration, development and HRP interfaces. 


 

Budgets/KPI's

 

Oversee development of business plans and financial budget for department in conjunction with Corporate objectives.  Manage on-going operations to achieve desired results.

 

Direct annual business planning, expense and budgeting processes.  Monitor progress monthly and revise accordingly to support corporate financial requirements and guidelines.

 

Develop, manage and monitor improved KPI metrics and reporting capabilities via in-house and third-party collaboration to support effective analysis of business operations and trends.

 

Manage resource additions and allocations to best support changing business trends and related service/support functions.

 

 




Qualifications



4 Year degree

 

Education & Industry Exposure:

Bachelor's degree in Business or related Field required.  Minimum of 7-10+ years work experience in a supply chain related environment (footwear preferred), including in a global capacity such as Transportation or Inbound Logistics etc. 

 


Coordinate multiple and conflicting demands. Ability to meet deadlines. Organized and detail-oriented. Ability to work with ambiguity and try new solutions to existing or new problems.

Advanced leadership, and people management skills.  Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.  Must be able to interact effectively across functions and cultures. 

 

Ability to critically analyze information & systems, creative problem solving skills & strategically plan complex organizational & functional interactions.  Ability to manage multiple and changing processes and priorities.

 

Must be very organized & able to track and prioritize multiple issues on an on-going basis.  Must have the ability to understand, design, & coordinate the implementation of new processes and systems.


 

 Industry Knowledge:  Solid understanding and application of Transportation, Inbound logistics and Compliance processes is critical. Proven experience in global demand and supply consolidation practices and processes.

 

Communicativeness:  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to communicate effectively across various management levels, and across multiple regional and geographic locals.  This includes day to day interaction with Liaison office personnel, Logistics Service Providers, domestic and international planners, licensees and product development teams.  Must have effective leadership skills; be able to negotiate & influence.

 

Problem Solving and Decision Making - Judgment:  Approach problems and business situations methodically and analytically, use factual information and financial data to make decisions and ensure profitability. Establish, monitor and act upon key business indicators, use of date and gates metrics to monitor progress.

 

 Resource Efficiency/Multi-Tasking:  Must be able manage multiple tasks with changing and evolving priorities with tight timelines & ambiguous information.  Ability to learn & adapt quickly & effectively to changing business needs.  Uses exception-based approach to managing the diverse and sometimes competing priorities that characterize inbound logistics.  Understands and educates others in how to best exploit inbound strategies so as to minimize rework and unnecessary/wasteful activities that do not add value to the overall process.
