 My client, a growing, global biopharma company in Cambridge, MA is focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of breakthrough drugs for a range of serious diseases.  Their business strategy is to commercialize major new drugs, both independently and in collaboration with other pharmaceutical companies.  This is an up and coming company everyone wants to be a part of!  The company offers a competitive compensation package including competitive base, bonus and restricted stock, plus full relocation.  Collaborative, entrepreneurial culture.

 
As this company continues to grow, so do their staffing needs.  I am currently seeking a Global Director of Marketing for a pipeline ground-breaking orphan product.  This is a new position as the company continues to grow their pipeline.  This will be a very exciting opportunity to come into the organization and help build this brand team from the ground up.  If you like small biotechs where you have a lot of exposure, can roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty, and a team that will be part of a winning company, this may be the opportunity you have been waiting on.

TITLE:   Global Director of Marketing - Orphan Product

REPORTS TO:   Vice President Strategic Marketing

SALARY RANGE:  up to $185k base, plus bonus (can earn up to 120% of your target bonus), restricted stock and stock options

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Marketing, the Global Director Brand Marketing will lead all marketing activities related to the global launch of a potentially transformational medicine for the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis. The successful candidate will demonstrate an appreciation for innovative marketing techniques and possess powerful strategic insights and a track record of innovation, as well as boundless energy and initiative. This person will thrive in an environment of rapid change; will have the proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams as both a leader and a participant; will be highly innovative and creative as well as have the ability to inspire creativity and innovation in their team; and have a passion for science based brands that can dramatically improve patients'' lives.

 
Major Responsibilities


- Drive the strategic and tactical commercial planning process across a broad range of customer segments (health care provider, payer and patient) to ensure an optimal and successful product launch

- Manage the brand’s budget to support pre-launch market development activities as well as meet or exceed company expectations

- Help to hire, lead and motivate brand marketers who will engage in activities to ensure launch readiness while also considering post-launch life cycle management and competitive dynamics

- Play a lead role on the commercial launch team as well as the Customers and Markets (commercial organization) leadership team

- Develop innovative marketing practices and business processes to help establish the company''s U.S. brand marketing as an industry leader

REQUIREMENTS:
 

    * Bachelor''s Degree required; MBA preferred
    * A minimum of 8-10+ years of marketing experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors
    * Experience in specialty products required - either Cystic Fibrosis, orphan products, or other specialty markets
    * Launch experience required, preferrably global launch
    * Solid Global experience is a MUST
    * A successful track record with brand management, marketing team leadership, and talent management
    * Demonstrated expertise in marketing to diverse customer segments including physicians, payers and consumers
    * Documented experience in overseeing life cycle management and market development/expansion activities
    * An understanding of the managed markets (payers, channels, pricing) environment in the U.S.
    * Proven ability to successfully lead/work in a cross functional team setting (clinical, sales, managed markets, regulatory, legal production, R&D, project management)
    * Excellent analytical, communication and organizational/planning skills
    * Demonstrated ability to create financial and operational objectives across business departments
    * Roll-up your sleeves, get your hands dirty mentality - you will be running this band solo initially
    * Ability to function well in ambiguous situations
    * Patient driven mentality
