    Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting Draper's external communications, media relations, internal communications, special events.

Primary focus on developing external communications and media relations on Draper's technology and business developments in collaboration with director, manager, tech staff, and internal media services group.  Will write, edit, and publish collateral material for print and electronic media; will write press releases and help foster relations with the technical, trade, and business media, representing Draper as needed.  

Required also to support other office functions, internal communications and community relations, special events, and administrative work.

Excellent writing skills with ability to translate technical accomplishments for various audiences. Knowledge of media relations helpful; should possess sufficient knowledge of graphic design of print documents and websites to provide meaningful feedback to designers; competence in relevant software for media relations; facility with social media a plus.

Cognitive and social ability to work well with diverse constituencies internally and externally, including management, tech and admin staff, and external media, community, and business partners.

Support  Draper's media relations, external and internal communications
Maintain/help maintain media relations data utilizing software tool,  and researching additional media outlets, events, and awards programs that would be useful in achieving objectives; generate media reports as requested;
Plan and execute Draper interviews, publications, announcements.
Write and edit articles/press releases for publications, media, and public web as needed;
Support development and maintenance (content) of  public web;
Participate in planning and executing Lab special events: Social Gala, United Way campaign, Draper Prize Lecture, etc.
Provide administrative support including processing requests for payment and filing/record keeping, and related assignments.
Qualifications
Bachelors in a communications/science field with one to three years of relevant communications experience.  Excellent writing, editing, communications, and interpersonal skills.  Knowledge of media, media relations, print and electronic communications. Interest in science and technology. Undergraduate/graduate coursework in science/technology a plus.
