Responsibilities: Lead business development efforts with potential end users and customers to discover, define, and influence emerging markets and programs. Visit prime contractors, government and program offices and program executive offices to develop information on emerging programs and requirements.


 


Work with government, program, and program executive offices to discuss evolving technology and products and guide program evolution such that it favors Mercury products.


 


Provide expertise, leadership and hands on involvement in developing business opportunities for Radar, SIGINT, and other DoD and Agency based programs. 


 


Maintain a comprehensive information file (BD funnel) on programs as they progress from concept to MNS to ORD to RFI/RFP/RFQ and provide a timely hand off of leads and information to sales. 


 


Provide inputs to Product Group Managers on market requirements, provides inputs to and research for Market Requirements Documents. 


 


Key person in evolving new contract opportunities for government funded product development. Attends conferences and industry events to track market evolution, and stay abreast of industry trends and end user needs. Assist in preparing proposals as required. Participate in the company's strategic planning process.


 


Qualifications: BS in engineering or equivalent plus 7+ years in business development/sales or program management in the defense industry. 


 


Extensive experience in the defense market should include work at or for prime contractors and government, program, or program executive offices in the areas of EO/ISR, Radar, Sonar, C4I, SIGINT, ELINT market space. 


 


Experience with COTS products and embedded computing and software in defense applications is required.


 


The successful candidate will be comfortable, confident, and articulate in briefing senior executives (VP and above) and program managers at prime contractors, and SES and Flag officers at government and program offices. 


 


In addition, candidates should have a current DoD security clearance and be a US citizen. 


 


Operational experience with end user Radar, SIGINT, and other DoD systems a plus.
