Job Title Embedded Hardware / Software Engineer
Purpose MITRE, a Fortune 100 Best Company to Work For, is seeking a Digital/Microprocessor Hardware Engineer to investigate, identify, and create solutions to important problems involving the collection, movement, analysis and distribution of a wide range of information. Work with an experienced team to learn new skills and find the right approach to interesting design challenges. Create proof-of-concept prototypes to demonstrate new capabilities.
Key Functions This position provides an exciting opportunity for upcoming or recent graduates to help create next-generation solutions to problems of national importance. We are interested in highly motivated candidates with a wide variety of skills and interests including digital hardware design, embedded software, computer architecture, remote sensing,
and prototype development. Candidates will be given the opportunity to work with cutting-edge resources and contribute to the development of advanced sensor, communication, and data networking technologies in a team setting. Candidates should be prepared to
expand their skill set by working with accomplished engineers in groups and one-on-one to identify important design and development issues at multiple levels. In addition, candidates must possess strong development, debugging and problem solving skills, and demonstrate the ability to apply them successfully to hardware and software tasks.
Understanding of embedded architectures and networking concepts is helpful. Candidates should be able to communicate technical concepts clearly.
Required Education/Experience: BS or equivalent
Desired Education/Experience MSEE/CS desired. Several years work experience or relevant academic experience.
Required Skills: Microcontroller design and programming, embedded software, C, C++,object-oriented software design, familiarity with FPGA and/or IC design, strong problem solving skills
Desired Skills Operating system fundamentals, communication theory, wireless networking, routing protocols, TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, computer architecture, multithreaded programming, Perl, Java, C++, algorithm complexity analysis, digital signal processing, sensor design.
Travel Statement *This position will require overnight travel up to 10% of the time.
