Position Overview

EBSCO Publishing is entering its third decade as a leading provider of research databases for students, library patrons, doctors, nurses, business people and researchers around the world. EBSCO's multi-media databases are accessible through EBSCOhost®, a one-stop reference system, featuring unprecedented search and retrieval speed, flexible options for access, and a graphical user interface.  EBSCOhost handles over 10 million searches and 70 million page views per day. More than 700 of the company’s 1,000+ employees work in the three restored mill buildings that make up the EP campus, located along the banks of the Ipswich River.

EBSCO Publishing is looking for a Computer and Information Science student to join our team as a Software Developer Co-op on a full time basis in our Enterprise Systems Development group.
The Enterprise Systems team develops and tests programs and processes for other EBSCO departments to streamline content workflow, to ensure high quality scrubbed data is fed into the production pipeline, and to provide applications and tools for competitive advantage.

Duties may include involvement in all aspects of a project's lifecycle including analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance. Essential functions include: • Requirements analysis • Component coding, maintenance and development • Unit testing and documentation • Utility development • Programming according to EP best practices with some potential for research and design • Report work status.


Skills

Eligible candidates are enrolled in a Computer Science program at a recognized university, maintaining a B average or higher and have experience with Object-Oriented Programming & Design, Software Engineering, Software Design, Algorithms, or Data Structures. Experience with any of the following would also be helpful:  Java, and/or XSLT, SQL, Oracle, JSP, Javascript. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills are necessary.  We are looking for a reliable self-starter who is able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment with excellent communication skills.
