PurposeEntry level position developing optimized software targeting various multicore processors, including the Cell Broadband Engine found in the playstation III. Candidate will be trained in the application of high performance embedded computing (HPEC) technologies to support a variety of projects and application areas.
Key FunctionsFunction as a technical contributor in the application of high performance embedded computing (HPEC) technologies. Support internal and sponsor-funded research and development activities in a number of different application area, including signal and image processing, bioinformatics, and genomics.
Required Education/Experience:BS or equivalent
Desired Education/ExperienceB.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other related disciplines.

Must be willing to be submitted for higher-level clearances and accept them if granted.
Required Skills:The successful candidate must have programming experience with C, C++, and Java. Strong problem solving and debugging skills are necessary to evaluate emerging microprocessors and their software development environments.

Candidate will be trained to evaluate multicore microprocessor architectures, choose an effective parallel designs, and develop optimized, often hand-tuned, software.

Experience with the implementation and operation of High Performance Embedded Computing (HPEC) systems and their associated software tools (e.g., Mercury Computer Systems, CSPI).
Desired SkillsStrong Unix/Linux skills and the ability to develop shell scripts (to automate tasks) is preferred.

Familiarity with the following: Real-time Operating Systems (VxWorks), Multi-threaded programming (POSIX), Vector, Signal, Image Processing Library (VSIPL), Multiple flavors of MPI, Parallel computing environments including Linux clusters and SMPs, various UNIX distributions.
Travel Statement*This position will require overnight travel up to 10 % of the time.
Clearance Statement*Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. For this position, MITRE will consider only applicants with security clearances or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
