WEB DEVELOPER

 

Christianbook.com, the leading Internet distributor of Christian products, is seeking a Web Developer to design, code, implement, and support applications for its E-Commerce website.  

 

The Web Developer will work closely with technical and web design staff, Internet Marketing, Information Technology, Customer Service, and management to deliver innovative solutions.

 

Qualified candidates have a strong work ethic and excellent character. They are a team-oriented and teachable self-starter.  We are looking for technically well-rounded individuals who are:

 

Flexible in adapting and responding to the new or unknown.

Able to take ownership and responsibility for projects and support situations.

 

Effective in providing solutions and collaborative in their work place relations.

Willing to participate in a 24/7 rotating on-call schedule to support website operations.

 

Ready to take initiative and follow projects through to completion.

Have BS/BA in engineering or computer science or equivalent experience.

Candidates need to have a solid real-world track record in the following:

 

Minimum of 2-4 years experience with open source development, including Perl and Java.

 

Strong experience with Object-Oriented Design and implementation.

Minimum of 3 years experience with web development, including Apache, mod_perl, HTML, CSS, XML, AJAX and JavaScript.

Minimum of 2 years experience with databases using SQL, MySQL, and Oracle.

 

Minimum of 2 years experience working in Unix / Linux environment including Solaris and RHEL.

2+ years experience developing highly scalable and secure web applications; including Web Services.

Experience with web-based reporting and web analytics.

Experience with Search Engine Optimization.

Experience developing rich multimedia internet applications using 

HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, and Flash.

Strong knowledge of open source software and technologies.

Time management and project management skills. 

Strong analytical and communication skills.

Ability to accurately identify problems, determine the best course for correction, and execute corrective actions successfully.

 

Successful design, implementation, deployment and maintenance of a high-traffic, multi-server web farm.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people; including Visio and Wiki software.

Organizational skills and great attention to detail.
