Senior Systems Engineer


Location: Lexington, MA


Primary Objectives: Play a lead role in maintaining a reliable, secure, robust network infrastructure. Manage IT projects from conceptualization through implementation. This person will be challenged on a daily basis supporting a complex, evolving infrastructure. We are looking for a highly motivated and technical individual who is well-rounded, can work effectively with very little supervision, and is looking to join a great team and company.


Responsibilities and Essential Duties



  • Develops clear, comprehensive plans for IT projects (in Lexington and cross-site) and drives projects through completion. Frequently and effectively communicates project status.

  • Maintain a high level of availability, performance, and security for all servers, workstations, and network services throughout the organization.

  • Support various network applications by effectively troubleshooting problems and working with other IT team members.

  • Leverage skills and experience with Windows/Linux operating systems, VMWare, Cisco network appliances, and other technologies to deliver effective and secure solutions.

  • Effectively communicate with management and teammates in all stages of work.

  • Monitors network performance and drives improvements in monitoring/alerting of network health.

  • Provide support to local product development and support teams. Participate in product testing and feedback processes.

  • Support the IT procurement processes.


Education and experience



  • Able to work effectively in a leadership role with little management supervision.

  • 8 years experience in Windows 2000/2003 network design and administration.

  • 8 years experience in managing IT projects (system upgrades/migrations, implementation of new networking technologies, and security enhancements).

  • 8 years experience in a role administrating network security and configuring/managing VPN and IDS solutions.

  • 5 years experience configuring Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.

  • 5 years experience supporting virtualization technology (VMware Enterprise including DRS and HA) in a business environment.

  • 5 years experience configuring and supporting ISCSI Clustered SANs or equivalent.

  • 5 years experience implementing and/or supporting VOIP phone systems.

  • Required CCNA, preferred CCNP.

  • Experience with SNMP and WMI and network monitoring tools.

  • Familiarity with supporting Linux/Unix systems a plus.

  • Infrequent off hours work is required. Especially as it pertains to system upgrades and responding to system or service outages.

  • Holding the CISSP certification is a plus.

  • 4-year college degree in a related discipline.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
