Position Description
Position Title: Installation Engineer
Responsibilities: Install and support NPS systems consisting of database blades and Linux servers at customer sites. This position will require about 75% travel, mostly domestic US. The Installation Engineer will coordinate with the customer and Netezza Operations logistics to ensure a smooth installation. At customer data centers, the engineer will assemble and test the system using diagnostic tools. After burn-in testing, database software and administration tools will be installed and tested. Customer-specific network and Linux configuration will performed.

Background required
Required: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen with a current U.S. passport or the ability to obtain one quickly, and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance for installations at government secure sites. Applicant must be willing to travel extensively on short (1-3 days) notice. Heavy lifting and detailed electronic inspection is sometimes necessary so applicant should have no physical limitations which would limit this.

This individual should be able to work extremely well independently and handle unforeseen field situations calmly and methodically. There will be 24x7 on-call situations where quick response is required. The position requires a person who is diligent, methodical, conscientious, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and has good customer presentation skills. At least 2 years of intensive Linux experience is required and should include network and driver reconfiguration experience.



Experience/Education Required
A.S. degree with significant (at least 4 years) Linux/Unix experience, or B.S. degree with at least 2 years Linux/Unix experience. Experience with database SQL is a major plus.
